Coventry Alliance Premier Division
KENILWORTH WARDENS 4 (Ritchie 6 Powell 16 37 Piwotazczyk 40)
JAGUAR DAIMLER 2 (Welland 61 90)
One welcome change for this season is that the Coventry Alliance now have a web presence! The league, a feeder to the Midland League was path less trodden for many hoppers as the only way you could find out fixtures other than locally was via the Football Traveller and that couldn’t help with those pesky late postponements!
And Glasshouse Lane, on the outskirts of town adjacent to the A46, is well worth a visit. Its primarily the home of Kenilworth Wardens Cricket Club, whose first XI play in the top division of the high-quality Birmingham League. The football pitch those isn’t one of those that moves according to the season, the permanent dugouts see to that.
In terms of quality the game could easily have graced the aforementioned Midland League, but during the first half the hosts swept away Jaguar/Daimler away in devastating fashion. The visiting manager berated his team at half-time, accusing them of not showing enough pride or commitment. He had a point, and at the final whistle he could allow himself some consolation at his team’s improvement. It wasn’t that the hosts eased off, it was that the visitors showed the kind of work-rate that is necessary to succeed at this level.
Now let’s hope the league keep the site-up-to date!!
