There was a certain symmetry in Robyn and I linking a trip to Helsinki to a return to a post-pandemic Stockholm to see friends that we hadn’t seen, in some cases for 4 years. Sweden did rule over Finland from the 13th century until 1809, and to this day you’ll see signs written in both Finnish and Swedish, the latter is still an official language.

Given my connections to Sweden, and the notoriously difficult to understand Finnish language I did find it difficult to pick up even a few words of Finnish, it was so much easier to use the Swedish I already knew. The home of Scottish Rugby Union certainly sees a lot more football than its English equivalent does. Be it Celtic using it for 2 European qualifying matches in 2014 when Celtic Park was in use for the Commonwealth game, or Edinburgh giants Hibs and Hearts have used it for friendlies, or when Easter Road, or Tynecastle has been either unsuitable, or out-of-use.
