Sometimes you need a Plan B. Sometimes you need a Plan C, but on this occasion we need not so much a Plan, more a Sou’wester and a game, any game! I’d even lost track of what I was meant to be watching in the first place!

The original idea was to watch Mid-Sussex League outfield Battle Town, unusually playing back home at Battle Playing Field. That fell to at least one side not being able to raise a side, but there were no end of further Mid-Sussex League options. But once we’d got to the A3 it started to rain, and this wasn’t so much a sharp shower more the kind of deluge that had made the Sussex Hop so awkward back in October.

We followed no end of clubs on Twitter, and watched game after game fall to the weather before doing what we probably should have done in the first place and simply play the wet weather card and make a beeline for the one game that was taking place in a 3G cage.

Even then we got wet, sometimes the rain is so bad you can take a brolly and wear a raincoat and it still isn’t enough to stay dry but we got a game and we were well entertained. Perhaps it goes without saying the majority of the crowd were groundhoppers; it takes someone with our form of lunacy to want to stand in a storm!

I won’t pretend anything was particularly memorable other than the soaking, but that I suspect goes equally for the players as the spectators.
